BBW Spring Candles

Today I went to Bath and Body Works for the Spring Home fragrance event. I bought 6 candles and received 2 free gifts with purchase. I went to a test store at the Garden State Plaza, in Paramus NJ. They are currently testing out 2 lines called the Tour of Italy and Lakeside collections (pictured below). I was most interested in the Tour of Italy collection, since I'm a sucker for all things Italian. The scents available from this collection were Limoncello, Gelato, Bellini Bar, Espresso Bar, Pizzeria, Tuscan Herbs, and Sicilian Blood Orange. My thoughts on the four I purchased can be found in my youtube review. Here are my thoughts on the ones I did not purchase: Sicilian Blood Orange: sweet, but too 'soft'. Lacks the tart, citrus edge of an orange scent. It was a nice scent, but not strong enough. Bellini bar: description includes sugared grapes and apples. I could definitely smell the crispness of apples, but the sugared grape scent is the strongest element of the scent. I strongly considered buying this, but I chose something else instead. Espresso Bar: a nice, smooth coffee scent. Good and strong.

The store also carried the Lakeside collection. I wasn't too thrilled with these, mostly because the scents were too heavy for Spring. Campfire Cookout was similar to Fireside, Summer Smores were like Marshmallow Smores, Forest Trail was like Fresh Balsam. The water based scents were a bit musty, but not terrible. Wildflowers was lovely and fresh.

BBW: Late Fall and Early Winter Test Scents

 I bought:
Sweater Weather - cool and soothing. Its hard to explain, but it does remind me of cool days and sweaters lol.

Cedarwood Oak- I can't place specific notes in this one, but it's just so nice. I guess I smell the oak, but really its just a smooth, pretty fall-ish scent. I'm sorry that's not a good description.

Pumpkin carvings- awesome pumpkin pie goodness.

Blueberry Pumpkin Patch- like blueberry muffins! Its supposed to be blueberry, pumpkin, and vanilla praline. I think the blueberry and praline notes are what combine to make it smell like muffins. The pumpkin is not noticeable on the surface, but there is an underlying spice note that could be the pumpkin. Its very nice.

Cinnamon Frosting (holiday collection)- butter cream, cinnamon, and cloves. The butter cream is the top note, strong and buttery. Then you smell sweet cloves and a bit of cinnamon. Its not really spicy. I would eat this by the spoonful if it was real lol

Things I sniffed but didn't buy-
toffee popcorn, twisted peppermint, winter candy apple, vanilla bean noel, evergreen, mocha peppermint cookie, hot buttered rum, and nutmeg and clove- they all smell exactly like those things. I'm sorry I don't have great descriptions, but they just smell exactly like what they say they do. Very straightforward.

Holiday- exactly like cinnamon red hot candies! sweet notes with hot cinnamon. I'm definitely getting this when it comes out. SA said they think its a definite.

Fireside- amazing. fireplaces and incense and just SO GOOD. also a definite.

sandalwood vanilla- smells like both these things, but warm and heavy.

cashmere- I couldn't get a good read on this one. I think maybe vanilla? by then, my nose had stopped working lol.

sugar and spice- cinnamon/clove spice with a sweet sugary scent. not a baked scent. not too strong.

peach bellini- this was a fizzy peach smell. nice, but I don't really think it fits the theme.
 Tis the season- sweet, berry or candy smell, slight hint of something earthy like fir or pine tree

vanilla snowflake- a cool vanilla

frosted cranberry- enough like cranberry woods to not justify buying it again. maybe a bit sweeter.

farm apple cookie - oatmeal cookies and red apples

I may have forgot or messed up things, but I was in a frenzy and I apologize lol. Test store listed a few posts back.

I am definitely going back for Holiday and Fireside, and maybe Tis the Season and Sandalwood Vanilla.

Bath and Body Works Fall Candles 2012

Cider Lane- awesomeness. This one is pure Fall to me. It has crisp apple, cinnamon, and a hint of the most realistic caramel scent I've found so far (not like that fake burny caramel scent you find often).

Pumpkin Cupcake- buttercream, pumpkin, candied ginger. You smell all of that, but I think the buttercream is the strongest note. Its sweet but very nice.

Cinnamon Sugared Doughnuts- best candle ever. Fried doughnuts rolled in cinnamon and sugar. You can smell the 'fried' element to it. So realistic I cant stand it.

Brandied Pear- pear, cream, and a syrupy 'brandy' note. It reminds me of the whipped cream and pear candle from Anthropologie, but not as light. Its definitely not a heavy scent, but it has some depth.

Plum Wine and Amber- I don't know how I feel about this one. The scents seem too muddled together for my taste. In the store, it smelled like a jelly/grapey/fruity wine scent, but now I just smell the mulled/spiced scent. I may return this one. EDIT: After smelling this a few more times, I'm definitely returning it. Im not sure why, but something about it just makes me wince.

 Black Pepper Bergamot - The only note I can make out is lavender, but it really smells like old school shaving cream from a barber shop. It's a very warm, nostalgic scent.

I may return Black Pepper Bergamot and Brandied Pear for smaller versions. I love the scents, but I can't see myself using the full 3 wick size in those particular scent. I will definitely return Plum Wine Amber for the same size in the new French Baguette scent that will be released in August.
